No consumption of expensive chemicals;
the sulphur is transformed into fertilizer

In the BioGascleaners the H₂S is removed from the biogas in a biological process. The sulphur oxidation bacteria need the following:

• Place to live and multiply => On a packed media inside a closed acid-proof tank
  
• Sulphur => The H₂S containing biogas
  
• Oxygen => Supply of atmospheric air
  
• Moisture => Water or gas condensate
  
• Nutrients => Liquid NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) or treated effluent
  
• Temperature => Above 25ºC

The only residual product from the biological process is a liquid sulphate solution. This is normally mixed with the treated effluent or biomass from the biogas digesters and recycled to the fields as valuable S-fertilizer.
